Szöveg formázás pedig ismét úgy gondolta, hogy nem olyan lesz, mint amilyennek papír forma szerint kellene lennie.

Mégsem annyira miniatürizálódtak
30-as hírösszefoglalóban volt a publikáció, hogy az Alvarezsauroidea-k egyre kisebbek lettek a kolóniában élő rovarok terjedésével. Ez részben igaz pl. a kései Parvicursorinae-k esetén. Ellenben pont a Parvicursor remotus melynél tévedtek, mivel felnőttnek állapították meg a megtalált példányt. Valójában, még nem volt felnőtt, tehát nagyobb volt a testmérete.

Nem földönkívüliek
Noha a medveállatkák eredete nem ismert, téves az a trópus, hogy nem földi élőlények. Extrém szívósságuk valóban figyelemre méltó. Ám talán az még jobban, hogy nem tudjuk elhelyezni őket az evolúciós családfán. Lobopodia-kkal lehetnek rokonok, mely nem biztos, hogy monofiletikus csoport. Közös ősük lehet a Luolishaniidae-kkal, mely alapján a lehetségesen polifiletikus Lobopodia részei a medveállatkák. Mint látható, nem csak a medveállatkák eredete és családfán való elhelyezése kérdéses, hanem számos mára kihalt állaté is.

Anomalocaris táplálkozás változásáról
Korábban aljzat fölött cirkálva, például Trilobita-kra vadászónak képzelték el. A helyzet, hogy ha a két fogó csápját előre nyújtotta sokkal kisebb ellenállásba ütközött, így az állat gyorsabb lehetett. E mellett kemény vázas állatok fogyasztására korlátozottabban lehetett képes, mint azt eddig gondolták. Szóval egy nektonikus ragadozó lehetett, tehát a vízoszlop közép tájékán cirkálva kereshette prédáját.

Gorgonops vadász stratégiájáról
Gorgonopsia-k esetén elég sok töredék van koponyákból, ellenben torzó vagy végtagok kevésbé ismertek. Gorgonops torvus hiányos ám eddigiekhez mérten annyira mégsem példánya került elő. Akár mázsát is elérhette. Ami viszont fontosabb, hogy hosszas, főleg gyors üldözésekre nem lehetett alkalmas. E helyett lesből támadhatott, prédát mellső lábaival lefoghatta, hogy fogaival végezhessen vele.

Ember általi növényzet változtatásról Madagaszkáron
Víziló maradványok izotópos vizsgálata, ez makikkal összevetve. Amennyiben ember előtt is jelentős nyílt füves legelők voltak, akkor izotópok révén kimutatható. A helyzet, hogy minimális C4-es fűvel táplálkoztak az egykori itt élt vízilovak, mely oka az ilyen legelők minimális mérete volt.

Előző rövid híresben már volt szó róla, hogy vitatott a kambriumi diverzációs robbanás. Szóval, hogy nem is volt, csak azt megelőző időkből kevés lelet van. A nevadai Wood Canyon formáció alapján volt diverzációs robbanás.

Amikor ki mit gondol
Előkerült egy életre-halálra harc, ahol egy Psittacosaurus lujiatunensis-t támadott meg egy Repenomamus robustus. Feltehetően az utóbbi, az emlős volt a vadász. Révén tudjuk, hogy fióka Psittacosaurus-okat zsákmányolt. Noha ez a példány kisebb. Az is lehet, hogy a dinoszaurusz már halott volt. Két állat testét egy lahar típusú vulkáni törmelék folyás terítette be.
Két dolgot jegyeznék meg. Tollak elleni érv, hogy a tollak számára jó konzerválódási körülmények, a vulkanikus környezetben is kevés tollas lelet van. Akkor most az ősemlősöket is tessékeltessék szőr nélkül kérni.

Pteroszauruszok szülői gondoskodásról

2023.07.19.-es publikáció szülői gondoskodást vélelmez a
Pteranodon-nál. Összehasonlításképpen további vizsgált állatok
voltak a Sinopterus, Rhamphorhynchus, Pterodactylus melyek fiókái
már önállók lehettek. Probléma, hogy nem ismert fiatal
Pteranodon, felnőttek csontjai alapján számoltak. Lehetséges volt
a szerzők szerint is a fiataloknál repülés, ám az nagyon gyatra
lehetett. Sőt lehet evolúciós maradvány volt. Ez a szintű
repülés nagyobb halandósági rátát eredményezett volna szülői
gondoskodás nélkül.

Kínai (vagy ujguria) Juggar-medencéről több publikáció is érkezett. Ezek a közép idei klímájáról szólnak. Egyet kiemelnék. Korábban volt már publikáció pl. Sauropodomorpha-król, hogy hidegebb klímáról szoktak át a melegebbre. Illetve a Juggar-medencéről már korábban is volt szó. Ezúttal tavi üledéket vizsgáltak, mely szerkezete nagyon hasonló a Ohotszki-tengeréhez. Ez alapján telente mínusz volt a hőmérséklet. Ez a triász-jurai magas széndioxid idején volt, mikor elvileg melegednie kellett a klímának.

… már el is felejtettem. Szóval, a Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis (YDIH)-ről lenne szó, mely röviden: Meteor jött, becsapódott és miatta halt ki a jégkor végén szinte az összes megafauna. Publikáció ennek cáfolatáról szól, még pedig, hogy nincsenek bizonyítékok. Amik vannak azok nem csak meteor becsapódás következtében jöhettek létre, illetve az emberi populációra is drasztikusan ki kellett volna hatnia ennek. Szóval nem írható fel a megafauna kihalása meteorok rovására.

Jeholornis táplálkozásáról
Jeholornis egy nem madár, de nagyon madárszerű dinoszaurusz. Phytolith-ok kis ásványi szerkezetek a növényekben. Ezeket találták meg az állatban. Az egyedi szerkezetük révén beazonosítható az elfogyasztott növény is, mely Magnoliids. Klád mai fajai elég szerteágazóak. Képen Magnoliales, tehát a liliomfa-virágúak vagyis liliomfák rend tagja látható. Ám ide tartozik még pl. a tavirózsa vagy farkasalma. Kép a publikációból.

Nem sztyeppe, hanem erdőfutó
Pedionomus torquatus vagyis sztyeppe futó, egy ausztráliai nyílt füves területeken élő madár. Fosszilis leletek alapján viszont régebben erdők, erdős területek lakója volt, vagy több féle élőhelyet részesített előnyben. Ezek a példányok valamivel nagyobbak voltak. A változás a holocénnel jött el. Vélelmezhetően az ember miatt változott meg.

Mi mindenre jók az oszteodermák
Pseudosuchia-k csontpikkelyei nem csak védelmi funkciót láttak el. A Metriorhynchidae-k például nem rendelkeztek velük. Az oszteodermák szerepe az lehet, hogy könnyebben felmelegednek és a környező érhálózat viszi tova a testben a hőt. Szerzők arra jutottak, hogy a fél vízi fajok, mint a mai krokodilok, azért rendelkeznek ennyi csontpikkellyel, mert ezekkel gyorsabban fel tudják magukat melegíteni. Ugyebár a víz lehűti őket, így kompenzálják. Ezzel szemben a szárazföldi Pseudosuchia-k csontpikkelyei egyszerűbbek, kevesebb van.
Metriorhynchidae-k folytonos úszás miatt, izmok által termelt hőből “éltek”. A Baurusuchidae-k test méretük miatt jól tarthatták a hőt. Míg a kisebb Notosuchia-k hamar felmelegedhettek, ha hűvösre volt szükségük, pedig üregeikbe húzódhattak vissza.
Ne feledjük el, hogy eredetileg melegvérű állatokról beszélünk.

Doromboló Smilodon?
La Brea kátránygödrök sok jó minőségű leletet szolgáltatnak. Hyoid csont (alsó állkapocs és gége között) található, ezt vizsgálták Smilodon fatalis és Panthera atrox-nál. Mivel szerepet játszik a hangképzésben és számos ma élő macskáéval összevethető. Így úgy tűnik, hogy a P. atrox nem tér el a többi ma élő párductól. A S. fatalis már érdekesebb. Korábbi kutatásoktól eltérően jobban hasonlít a doromboló macskákéhoz. A hangképzésbéli különbség nem alkalmas olyan következtetések levonásához, mint amik a viselkedést illetik.

Jupijkam paleofluvialis egy új Phytosauria felső triászi Kanadából. A pseudosuchia-s cikkemben elrontottam a családfát. A Phytosauria-k besorolása kérdéses. Vannak akik nem fogadják el őket Archosauria-nak, vannak kik Pseudosuchia-nak gondolják őket vagy nagyon közeli közös ősük van. Ennél az új fajnál simán csak Archosauria-k.

Kék bálna a második
Perucetus colossus egy új Basilosauridae, Peruból. Bár hiányosak e közép eocéni cetnek a leletei, csigolyái nagyon vastagok, nagy a csont sűrűsége. Noha nagyobb nem is volt a kék bálnánál, a csontsűrűség miatt esélyes, hogy nehezebb lehetett.

Hogy is van ez a karom dolog?
Lagerpetidae-król volt már cikk a blogon. Új fajuk a Venetoraptor gassenae felső triászi Brazíliában élt. Csőr annyira nem meglepő, Archosauria-n belül többször is kialakult. Nagyobb probléma a mellső végtag négy ujja, pontosabban a negyediken lévő karom. Lehet rekonstrukciós hiba. Lehet, az Archosauria-k nem a közös ősnél vesztették el a mellső végtag 4. és 5. ujj karmát. Ám lehet, hogy a falakó életmód miatt újra kifejlődött vagy aktiválódtak a megfelelő gének.
